ms3 - Parsing MuseScore 3

Welcome to ms3, a Python library for parsing annotated MuseScore 3 files. It

  • parses uncompressed MuseScore 3 files (*.mscx),

  • also parses compressed MuseScore 2 & 3 files (*.mscz), and cap, capx, midi, and musicxml formats by temporally converting them

  • stores the contained information (notes, harmonies, lyrics etc.) in a tabular format (*.tsv),

  • deletes and writes annotation labels to MuseScore’s <Harmony> layer,

  • parses and transforms labels following the DCML harmonic annotation standard
